About Amy

Hi! My name is Amy. I am 26 years old and this year, I am running my first marathon. Last year, my sister and I decided we wanted to train for a half marathon together…and that’s when I was bit by the running bug! Now I love to run and train…and I love to race. I’m not nearly fast enough to win but I always have a great time. I love to do 5 & 8Ks and I would like to expand my racing horizons to longer races as well! But my real goal has always been to run a marathon…and some day, I’d love to qualify for Boston (it’s every runner’s ultimate dream). I started this blog to share my journey to 26.2 miles (and beyond!) with family and friends.
Here I am at the finish of my very first 5K race. Finish time: 29:46
So how did I get into blogging? I have been struggling with a few extra pounds since I graduated college. In 2008, I decided to join CalorieKing, a weight loss website with an amazing community of supportive women (and even a few men!) who are all trying to fight the battle of the bulge. With the help of CK and its awesome net calories program, I lost about 12 pounds. It’s there that the blogging bug first bit me, and I have been blogging almost daily on the CK website since I joined. Right now, I am about 5 to 8 pounds away from my goal weight…I’d like to maintain around 130 or a little below that (I’m 5’5″). My main focus, though, is health–and getting into the best shape of my life. I love food and wine, so I’m not about to deprive myself…but I do focus on eating healthy, whole foods, and I focus on fueling and training my body so that it can be the best it can be! Five pounds, schmive pounds…I just want to be the best Amy I can be. Thanks for joining me on this journey!
